Kano state Emergency management Agency, SEMA has disclosed that 51 people were killed by flood incidents that ravaged the 44 local governments in the state, in 2020.
The Executive Secretary of the agency comrade Saleh Jili, on Friday , while addressing a delegation from Civil Society Scalling Up Nutrition in Nigeria, , CS-SUNN led by national chairman of the coalition, Innocent Ekene , in his office along Sokoto road, hinted that in 2020 , over 10,000 farmlands were also damaged by flood.
Jili further disclosed that over 46 000 persons were internally displaced by flood, and fire outbreaks , adding that in 2020, officially reported flood cases confirmed that 51 people were killed.

He also lamented the high number of cases of fire outbreak been recorded in the state , stating that in 2020 the state recorded over 10,000 cases of fire out breaks.
The emergency agency boss, described the response capacity of SEMA to emergency cases in the as State s pathetic, explaining that paucity of funds has continued to hinder the agency from effective delivery of emergency services to the populace residing in urban and rural areas,.
He appealed to philanthropists and corporate organization to come to the rescue of victims through rendering material and financial support to the agency .
Earlier in his remarks, national chairman, CS-SUNN, Innocent Ekene pray the agency to create a budget line for nutrition, noting that victims of disasters also deserved to be properly feed .
Ekene urged the agency to assigned a desk officer to superintend over nutrition issues, he further prayed for the inclusion of members of the State Committee on Food and Nutrition , SCFN in SEMA activities to help promote issues of nutrition in the agency.
