The Management of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), has named its major access road after the late Nasiru Yusuf Gwarzo, who died last week after a brief illness.
Late Nasiru Yusuf Gwarzo, who was a younger brother to the President and Founder of MAAUN, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, died in Sabon Layi Kara, Gwarzo local government area of Kano state.
The President and Founder of MAAUN and Franco-British International University Kaduna, Prof. Adamu Abibakar Gwarzo made the disclosure during the Seventh day Fidda’u prayer for the late Nasiru Yusuf Gwarzo, held on Sunday, February 28, 2021 in Sabon Kayi Kara, Gwarzo LGA.
He said the management of the University had decided to name the road ‘Nasiru Yusuf Gwarzo Street’ in order immortalise him.

He described the death of his brother, Nasiru Yusuf Gwarzo as devastating and shocking pointing out that he really lost a dependable and reliable brother.
According to him, the late Nasiru Yusuf Gwarzo was somebody who liked visiting his relatives and always encouraged youths especially in his hometown to seek for both Islamic and western education adding that he was also an easy going person.
“He (Nasiru) had once told me that he wanted somebody from their family members to become like Adamu Gwarzo. So I promised him to support him become like me but unfortunately this is what God has planned.
He prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest and Aljannah Firdaus and the family as well as his friends the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He assured that the people of Sabon Kayi Kara that the Adamu Abubakar Gwazo Foundation has made arrangements for the selection of qualified indigenes of the area to give them scholarship to study in university free.
He added that the Foundation would also pay for those who completes their secondary school to sit for JAMB examination in addition to securing them admission into various universities free of charge.
“It is my desire to see that in the next 10 year, Sabon Layi Kara village has the highest numbers of university graduates and other developmental projects.
“We also have plans in the near future to train 100 women in various trades and give them capital to start their own chosen businesses,” Abubakar Gwarzo said.
He also promised to complete the proposed MAAUN campus at Gwarzo town in order to give youths from the area the opportunity to acquire university education.
The Late Nasiru Yusuf Gwarzo street was inaugurated on Sunday evening, February 28, 2021 at a brief ceremony.
