Sasa Killings: Amalgamated Union of food stuff, cattle dealers writes Buhari, demand members right

The amalgamated union of food stuff and cattle dealers of Nigeria (AUFCDN) has written to President Muhammad Buhari over recent killings at Sasa, Ibadan, demanding for right of members.

The union has also concluded plan to embark on strike action over multiple taxes on federal highways.

Addressing newsmen Tuesday evening in Gusau, the state chairman of AUFCDN Alhaji Aminu Garba maintained that the strike action would commence tomorrow Wednesday by 12 midnight.

“The nation wide strike was slated to commence on Wednesday 24 February, 2021 by 12-midnight as directed by the national body of our union, all members are expected to participate actively”.

He stressed that the amalgamated union of food stuff and cattle dealers of Nigeria has held a series of meetings at different places and resolved to defend the interest and right of members nation wide.

“The union nation wide is contributing immensely to the economic growth of Nigeria by providing revenue and taxes to federal government including 36 states of the federation.”

According to him, during EndSARS protest many of their members fall victims in different parts of the country particularly South South and South East. He added that many people were killed and properties worth millions of naira including animals were destroyed.

“The union national body had demand for compensation of loved ones and properties of our members”.

He lamented that it is sad and unfortunate to inform you that the recent violence which erupted in Sasa claimed lives and properties were lost.

“Further more on other issues hindering the activities of our union includes multiple taxation, mounting illegal road blocks at unavoidable and strategic location on federal highways and demand for the payment of illegitimate tax that worth up to four hundred and fifty thousand naira (N450,000) before reaching destination.”

He stressed that the leadership of national body of AUFCDN has warned members,” any member that violent the instructions by conducting any activity such as loading, uploading or transporting animals or food stuff to any parts of the country shall be severely dealt with”.

“I also want to inform you that the national body of our Union has written to Mr. President and commander in chief of the Armed forces of the federal republic of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari and other Government agencies demanding for the right of our members.”
