Niger Abduction: Nigeria In Deep Mess

It’s now Niger’s turn. The state used to be very peaceful and was hardly in the spotlight. This is the problem with a problem; unless it is nipped in the bud early, it exacerbates. From Zamfara to Katsina, Kaduna to Sokoto; banditry and kidnapping spread like wildfire. Worse still, Boko Haram is still actively operating in the North-East. We are in a deep mess.

It’s exhausting writing about our numerous problems. An Arewa man has never had this challenge since the creation of Nigeria. You stay at home and get killed or kidnapped; you travel to the South and get kicked out, your livelihood destroyed, or even murdered by members of his host community. Nigeria has become a hellhole for many people.

Sadly, the problems cannot be solved soon as they were many and firmly instituted. First, there is an urgent need for competent leaders. Do we have to wait for 2023? Second, we need to overhaul our attitude towards issues such as population growth, education, and employment. Are we willing to do that? No. Thus, the problems live on.

Important Tips For Northerners On Twitter

We pray to God as faithful, and that’s good. However, we need to supplement our prayers with action. God will not come down to fix our problems nor send His angels. We, humans, have to work; we are his agents. I know this sounds profane, but it is an indisputable fact. We have to ACT.

My thoughts and prayers to the abducted NSTA passengers, the Kagara schoolchildren, and all other hostages. May they regain their freedom, amin. May Almighty God forgive and protect us, amin.
