<p>Mr Segun Ayomide Ola, the national coordinator of the coalition told reporters in Abuja on Wednesday, saying that &#8221; we are now convinced that President Buhari is serious about fighting corruption in the country by bringing a competent person to head the anti-graft agency&#8221;.</p>
<p>According to him, many Nigerians including elders from three geopolitical zones have expressed support for the Federal appointment for the appointment of Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa as new chairman of the agency</p>

<p>The group also described Mr Bawa as a man of proven integrity whose record earned him to get this appointment by the federal and call on Nigerians to also support him .</p>

<p>&#8220;We are optimistic that the new chairman will restore the lost integrity of the agency by ensuring that the integrity of the agency will soon be commended by people.</p>
<p>The coalition group demanded that the anti-corruption fight “should be total and not selective”, while discouraging the use of plea bargains to settle corruption charges.</p>
<p>Mr Segun said &#8221; the new chairman has been a man of integrity who will be proud of all in the country and hope for urgent steps to redress the “lopsidedness” in the handling of corruption cases.</p>
<p>According to him, the appointment of the anti-graft chairman, Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa was done based on fairness with a view to ensure equity and justice.</p>
<p>Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to confirm Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa as substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).</p>
<p>“In a letter to President of the Senate, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, the President said he was acting in accordance with Paragraph 2(3) of Part1, CAP E1 of EFCC Act 2004,” a statement by Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman, read.</p>
<p>Giving an insight into the nominated EFCC chairman’s background, Adesina said, Bawa, 40, is a trained EFCC investigator with vast experience in the investigation and prosecution of Advance Fee Fraud cases, official corruption, bank fraud, money laundering, and other economic crimes.</p>
