In line with tradition,Kano State Government under the State Shariah Commission publishes Islamic calendar at the beginning of every Islamic year.
The Shekarau administration started the tradition during his first term in office as Kano State Governor.
The governments of Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and that of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje continued with the tradition.
But the governments of Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and that of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje print the Islamic Calender on the third month of the year which is Rabiul Auwal.
NigerianTracker investigation reveals that its only the government of Malam Ibrahim Shekarau that presents the calender for distribution to the general public on the first day of Muharram which is the first Month of the Islamic Year.
Our source reveals that Kano State government is yet to approve funds for the production and printing of the 1442 Islamic year Calender.
The source said the funds for the production of the calendar hardly exceeds seven million Naira.
As at the time of filing this report ,the Islamic year of 1442 is in its sixth month that is Jimadal Thaniya.
The Calender when produced contains the 12 month of the Islamic year from Muharram to Thulhajj and also contains prayer times ,Hadith and selected verses of the Quran.
Its distributed throughout the state free of charge which is being used by Muslims in mosques and residences for easy identification of prayer times.
When contacted for clarification by the Nigerian Tracker, the Commissioner for Religious affairs Muhammad Tahir Adamu did not pick the calls .
