Journalists under the aegis of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Kano council would cast the ballot to determine the leaders of the union, following the formal inauguration of a Credential Committee set up by the state council on Tuesday.
The chairman of the council comrade Abbas Ibrahim at the inauguration ceremony held at NUJ Kano press centre charged members of the committee that in conducting their assignments they should adhere to the tenets of fairness, to be transparent and they should be judicious.
Abbas explained that the committee ought to have been inaugurated 90 days prior to the expected January 2021 tenure expiration period, noting that the advent of Covid-19 played a pivotal role in invoking the witnessed delay.

He said “we have secured clearance from the national secretariat, so your committee is mandated to conduct elections within the time frame not exceeding six weeks from today.
“in everything funding is crucial, considering the economic recession and Covid-19, we are making available to the committee, some token as your take-off grant,” Abbas stated.
The chairman of the Credential Committee, Adamu Ibrahim Dawakin Tofa assured the NUJ Kano fraternity that his led committee will be fair to all.
He disclosed that the election would be low key owing to the Covid-19 pandemic while assuring that Covid-19 protocol will be strictly observed to prior and during the elections.
