Stay-At-home Directives in Kano: Schools Not Affected –Educ. Comm.

Kano state Commissioner of Education, Malam Muhammad Sanusi Sa’id Kiru has said that the recent directives issued by the state government that all civil servants should stay at home to prevent the spread of COVID-19 does not affect the schools operating in the state.

 

He made the clarification in a chat with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

 

The commissioner disclosed that the ministry has provided all the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the students, teachers, and other staff across the public schools in the state with a view to ensuring compliance with the COVID-19 protocols.

He, therefore, instructed all the schools in the state to take the necessary measures by ensuring that the safety protocols adhered to appropriately.

 

He added that the ministry will constitute a high-powered inspectorate team across the 14 zonal education directorates that will assist in ensuring compliance with the  Covid-19  protocols and report back to the ministry on weekly basis.

 

Similarly, the commissioner said that he has already discussed the issue with Governor Dr.  Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, ” And the Governor has agreed that academic actives should continue, so we are going to provide the schools with all the necessary logistics and support.

 

In a statement sent to Nigerian Tracker by the Ministry of Education Chief Public Relations Officer Aliyu Yusuf said it could be recalled that the state government has issued a statement in the early hours of Tuesday, January 19th, directing all civil servant in the state to stay at home pending further directives as well as the ban on the activities of viewing and event centres in the state.
