NDE Inaugurates 14,000 Youth In Zamfara For Special Public Works

The National Directorate of Employment, NDE has flagged off the Extended Special Public Works in Zamfara state with 14,000 beneficiaries as approved by president Muhammadu Buhari.

In her Keynote address during the Flag off on behalf of the federal government, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Social Development and Disaster Management, Hajia Sadia Umar Farouq said, the programme was implemented in 8 States of the federation in order to gauge its impact on addressing the population of the unemployed youths and rising insecurity in some parts of the country and it now covered all states.

The minister who was represented by her Special Adviser Special Duties, Mr. Musa Zubairu said, the strategy was adapted to fasts track the achievement of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (2017-2020)

On his part, the Chairman, Selection Committee of the Programme, Engr. Ahmad Garba Yandi, noted that the 14,000 youths of Zamfara state out of the 774,000 across the Nation will be engaged in Public works that includes Cleaning of Worship places, Clearance of Drainages, Rural Roads among others, saying the programme which is under the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment was part of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s determination to improve the living standard of Nigerians.

Also Speaking, Ag. Director General of the NDE Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, represented by Ibrahim Jimada, Deputy Director Human Resources, expressed gratitude to President Muhammad Buhari for entrusting the implementation of the project to NDE, saying they justified the trust.

Earlier, Zamfara State government through the state deputy governor, Mr. Mahadi Aliyu Commended the Federal Government for initiating the project that has multiple benefits to the state and the country.

The NDE Coordinator, Gusau Office, Mr. Abdullahi Yakubu said the 14,000 in the state will benefit Eight Hundred and Forty Million Naira in 3 months of the project their by boosting the economy of the state and that of the country.
