The Comptroller Customs, Sokoto/Zamfara Command, Abdulhamid Ma’aji who performed the reopening of the Boarder along side with his Gwanni Counterpart in Niger Republic, Col. Gouzayē Rabiou who is the Chief Bureau Douane Kwanni (Comptroller Customs, Kwanni) urged the Boarder Communities to support security agents at the Boarder to ensure total compliance with Federal Government’s directives on the reopening.
The Comptroller Customs Sokoto Command, Abdulhamid called on the general public to strictly comply with Boarder contraband item the instructions and note that, all the Contraband items are still prohibited to be smuggled to Nigeria.
However, he said other items coming into Nigeria should pass through the recognized process and ensure that, only certified revenue collecting agents are patronized for payment of taxes and other excise duty.

In a remark, shortly after the reopening of the Boarder, the Governor of Kwanni in Taohoau region, prefect, Ibrahim Abba Lele expressed happiness and gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his consideration to open the Boarder, which according to him will in turn restrengthen the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Niger Republic that predates the colonial era.
Speaking also, the District head of Kwanni in Niger Republic, Alh. Mamman Salou said traditional rulers of the duo countries will corporate and support security agents as well as governments to ensure success.
Earlier, the District head of Illela Town of Sokoto State Alh. Buhari Tukur who spoke on the reopening of Boarder during a courtesy visit by the Sokoto Command Comptroller Customs to his palace said, closure of the Boarder has affected their economy, saying the reopening will boost the economy and put smiles on the paces of his people.
Some of Illela residents, Commercial motorcyclists and some Nigerein who converged at the Boarder to witness the reopening ceremony, have voiced out their gladness and satisfaction to FRCN as well as optimism to regain their degraded economy which suffered serious set backs during the Boarder closure.
