KAROTA Arrests Igbo Indian Hemp Dealer

Kano Road and Traffic Agency KAROTA on Wednesday apprehended one Mr. Ekennah Okechuku for transporting more than 60 cartons containing Indian Hemp into the state.

Upon his arrest, the suspect who was apprehended by Personnel of KAROTA was discovered to be on the wanted list of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Command for same crime.

While handing over the suspect to the Commander, NDLEA, the Managing Director, KAROTA Baffa Babba Dan’agundi stated that his agency had recently ordered the relocation of the Sabon Gari Luxurious Buses Park due to report of such crimes committed using such vehicles.

He said the order is beginning to yield results as some of the luxurious bus companies now cooperate with KAROTA to expose any person or group of persons transporting any prohibited goods or items into Kano using their services.

He warned that any company whose driver or his boys is found guilty of conniving with unscrupulous individuals to commit crime in the state, such vehicle, would be seized and the company expelled from the State.

Reacting, the Commander, NDLEA, Kano Command, Dr. Ibrahim Abdul expressed gratitude to KAROTA for the synergy between the two agencies which led to the arrest of the suspect which his command has been on his trail.

He said, the command has earlier intercepted two consignments belonging to the same person whom has employed a tactics of concealing his exhibits in unsuspecting packs and move in a separate vehicle which has made it difficult to arrest him.

In a statement by Nabulusi Abubakar Kofar Naisa said the suspect who hails from Imo State has since confessed to his crime revealing that he was transporting the drugs from Lagos to Kano where he supplies his customers.
