Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has congratulated Professor Umar Pate on his appointment as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Kashere, Gombe State.
His appointment was announced by the University’s Governing Council as the third Vice-Chancellor.
The Governor who expressed joy over the appointment of the Adamawa son describes it as well deserved having proven himself as an accomplished academic.
He stated that “I have no doubt in his competence because Prof Pate has distinguished himself both at the University of Maiduguri and Bayero University Kano having previously held a variety of leadership roles”.
While praising the Leadership qualities of Professor Pate whom he described as working hard to make the study of Mass Communication great, the Governor said “I am proud to say that Adamawa is blessed and honored with Professor Pate’s appointment, and I have confidence in his capacity to move the University to greater heights. I therefore on behalf of the good people of Adamawa State congratulate you and wish you the very best during your tenure.
Governor Ahamdu Umaru Fintiri also described Professor Pate as a thoroughbred academic and Communication expert whose impact was greatly felt both at Unimaid and BUK where he served as Dean of School of Communications and currently Dean of Post Graduate school, the Governor tasks him to make the State proud again.

Governor Fintiri commended him for contributing immensely to human capital development with his products across Newsrooms and transnational corporations, commending particularly his role in setting up Campus Radio and TV stations through grants sourced from international donor agencies.
In a statement by Humwashi Wonosikou the Press Secretary to the Governor said governor Fintiri urged Professor Pate to tap from the wealth of knowledge and experience gained at Unimaid and BUK to make Kashere University an internationally recognized institution, saying “As a scholar of Communication, author with publications in academic journals, who has presented at international conferences, given keynote addresses across the world, I have no doubt that his appointment will add value to the relatively new University”.
