Breaking: Exercise Sahel Sanity extended to March, 2021 – COAS

Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai has visited Special Army Super Camp 4, Faskari for an assessment mission.

 

During a media chat at the camp, the COAS commended officers and men of the exercise for professionalism and successes recorded.

 

The information unit of the camp briefed the COAS on the breakthrough of the exercise Sahel Sanity from July to December 2020 to include 210 bandits neutralized, 326 suspected bandits arrested, the arrest of 46 logistics suppliers, and 11 rustle cattle Buyers.

 

Saying during the period the troops recovered 70 AK47 Rifles, 191 Dane Guns, 4,987 of 7.62mm special ammunition, and rescued 619 kidnap victims including the recently rescued 344 students of Government Science Secondary School Kankara in conjunction with other security agencies as well as recovery of 7,668 Cows and 1,842 Sheep.

Buratai therefore, extended the operation period of the Ex-Sahel Sanity to Match 2021 to enable the troops to clear the remnants of the bandits in the Northwest region, saying the banditry has reduced drastically.

 

Lt. Gen. Buratai charged the troops the remain committed and continue the onslaught on the bandits until normalcy is restored.
