Masari briefs Buhari, says ‘abductors of schoolboys contacted us’

Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State has met with President Muhammadu Buhari over the abduction of at least 333 students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara.

Briefing the president who is currently in his hometown, Daura, for a one-week private visit, the governor disclosed that the abductors of the schoolboys have established contact with the state government.

According to a statement by a presidential media aide, Garba Shehu, the governor assured of steady progress to rescue the students unharmed.

“We are making progress and the outlook is positive,’’ the Governor informed newsmen after an hour meeting with the President, which started at 2pm.

The Governor, who was escorted by the Deputy Governor of the state, Manir Yakubu, said the kidnappers had made contact and discussions were already on pertaining to safety and return to their homes.

Governor Masari also said that security agencies had located the position of the children.

The Governor said the President was committed to the rescue of the school children, adding that it was only appropriate to visit the President and give him more details of rescue efforts.
