Supplementary: INEC Declare PDP Candidate Winner Of Bakura Bye Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Ibrahim Tudu Tukur of Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, as the Winner of the Bakura State constituency bye election.

This was announced by the Returning Officer of the bye election, Prof. Yahaya Tanko Baba of the Department of Political Science, Usman Danfodio University Sokoto at the Local government Collation Center in Bakura.

Prof. TK Baba explained that, the results of the 14 affected polling units in 5 wards of the LGA submitted by the ward returning officers made the election to be contested and concluded.

According to him, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC Dan-Kande Bello, polled 16546 votes while Ibrahim Tudu Tukur of PDP scored 23,874 votes hence returned elected.

PDP Chairman of Zamfara State Alh. Tukur Dan-Fulani spoke to journalists shortly after the announcement, charge the winner to justify his victory and to be a good ambassador of the Party as well as his constituency.

On his part, the Agent of All progressive Grand Alliance Party, AGPA and the former National Secretary of the party said, as an ally of the PDP the victory of Ibrahim Tudu Tukur of PDP was not a surprise one and charge him to him vindicate the party.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr. Asma’u Mai Kudi, Election Observers, party agents and securities were in attendance during the declaration.
