Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 32 women prostitutes at a tomato market in Badume located in Bichi Gocal Government area of Kano state.
According to the State Hisbah Commandant General, Sheikh Muhammad Harun Ibn Sina, they made the arrest in a joint operation with other security agencies.
He said out of the 32 women arrested, 12 have already tested positive for HIV.
Sheikh Haruna Ibn Sina stated that those that were tested for HIV, seven of the arrested prostitutes are already aware of their status while five of them didn’t know their status.

The commandant General said the arrested prostitutes are from Enugu, Edo, Katsina, Cross River, Adamawa, Zamfara states, and the Cameroon Republic. He added Kano and Jigawa states have one each.
Sheikh Ibn Sina noted that there are male collaborators among the prostitutes and where handed over to National Drug law Enforcement Agency for drug-related offences.
