NAWOJ Calls For Elimination Of Violence Against Women And Children

The Nigeria Association of women Journalists NAWOJ Kano state chapter has called on relevant stakeholders to rise against rape, domestic violence,girl hawking,exploitation of house maids,women genital mutilation,child trafficking and slavery.

This is contained in a statement signed by the state Secretary Wasilah Ibrahim Ladan and made available to newsmen in Kano.

The statement explained that, as the world mark’s 16-days activities for the elimination of violence against women and the 2020 campaign theme is Fund, Response,Prevent , Collect, there is need for traditional and religious leaders to intensify protective measures to curb the reoccurrence of rape and violence against women in our society and the nation in general.

Wasilah Ladan therefore urged parents, guardians and the victims to speak up and report such cases to security agencies for proper action.

She pointed out that NAWOJ is ready to partner with concerned authorities and other stakeholders in order to emulate developing countries in fighting and prosecuting the perpetrators.

She added that it’s time to say no to violence against women in the state and across the country.
