The Kwankwasiyya faction of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has said that it will stage protests against alleged selling public properties by the governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje.

In a press conference in Kano on Friday, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the PDP in the 2019 election, Aminu Abdussalam lamented that the Ganduje-led administration is selling public properties to individuals for personal gains through non-transparent and unconstitutional means.

According to Mr Abdussalam, the action of the state governor to sell public properties to individuals is a sign of setback to the state and the nation at large, stressing that the Kwankwasiyya group would follow lawful means to stop what it described as “ineptitude, cluelessness and breach of constitutional provisions.”

Mr Abdussalam stated that Mr Ganduje had reversed the policy initiated by the administration of the former governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso to establish zoological garden per senatorial zones, adding that ” instead of completing the one initiated by the immediate past administration, located at Bagauda and establishing another in Kano North, is to say the least going in anti-clock wise direction.”

“It is no longer news that our historical monuments and other public properties of critical importance to the development of Kano are under serious threat by the governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, under the APC-led government.

” You may recall that Kano state government are selling public properties such as Gidan Zoo, Daula Hotel, Triumph Publishing Company, Eid ground at Kofar Mata, Panshekara Modern Abattoir, some part of Fagge Juma’at Mosque, Hajj Camp and Shahuci Motor Park to individuals for personal gains through non-transparent and unconstitutional means that are hitherto being used for the benefit of all.

“The action if this inept, clueless and incompetent governor, whose desire is only to milk public fund is a clear sign of setback to Kano state in particular and the nation at large,” he said

Mr Abdussalam therefore called on the state government and wealthy individuals involved in grabbing public lands to desist from the “merciless act.”

He further stated that though the Kwankwasiyya movement shall not be deluded by the attractive idea of good return from the investment, it will remain with no option than to “diligently pursue lawful means and engage in public protests in order to stop the disaster.”

He however lamented that the Ganduje administration has failed to constitute investigative panel against Police brutality in the state in the wale of End Sars protests, adding that “this has raised the question on whether there is no any Police brutality in Kano or no any reported killings by the Police in Shared and other places in the state.”

“In conclusion, let me once again remind the governor of Kano state that his last five years of administration is disastrous, characterized by under-development and overburden of failure to the good people of Kano,” Mr Abdussalam added.
