Police Rejects N250,000 Bribe, Recovered stolen Vehicle

Zamfara State Police Command have arrested Car Snatcher and rejected N250,000 Bribe and recovered a stolen motor vehicle.

This was contained in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shehu Muhammad while answering questions at the Command Headquarters in Gusau.

SP Shehu Explained that, the Suspect was apprehended by a combine team of Mobile Police and Counter Terrorism Unit Personnel of the Command stationed at Tazame Pin down along Gusau-Zaria Road have intercepted a Toyota Matrix, Ash colour with Registration Number, ABC 584 AP drove by one Sirajo Ibrahim a native of Gidan Dare area of Sokoto.

According to him, the suspect who can not give account of how he got the Vehicle, instead offered a bribe of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira to the Policemen.

As a result the bribe offer raised suspicion hence he was arrested and handed over to Crime investigation Department of the Command.

SP Shehu Muhammad said , in the course of interrogation, the suspect has confessed that, the Vehicle was stolen at Wuse Market in Abuja on the 15th November, 2020 by one Abdullahi a member of his gang who is residing in Abuja, now at large, saying the suspect is at present in Police Custody undergoing further interrogation and he will transferred to FCT Police Command for further investigation and interrogation.

The Suspect, Sirajo Ibrahim who spoke to Newsmen at the police command, said he was to deliver the Vehicle to One Adamu at Magama, a border between Niger Republic and Nigeria in Katsina State.

He noted that, the Vehicle was the Third One to deliver and was paid N30,000 for the assignment.

According to the suspect he was not aware of the status of the Vehicle as the said Abdullahi drove the Vehicle to Kaduna and asked him to help and deliver it to Adamu at Magama as done to him twice before the ran out of luck.
