Kano State command of Nigerian Drugs Law Efforcement Agency call on parents to be vigilant on their children over excessive use of food items.
The commandant who was represented by Hajiya Aisha Hamidu during a sensitisation workshop organised by the League of Societal Protection Against Drug Abuse, said parents have a role to play in making our society drugs free.
” It has come to our notice that many food items are being used as intoxicants. Number of our youth now turn to use Maggi cubs or Lacasera drink as a close substitute of known convensional drugs which our agency made it hard to get.”
” Everything that eat much has a negative effect, and as matter of fact the parents should keep an eye on their children to help in eradicating drugs abuse.” Aisha said.
She further said ‘ by law our Agency can only retain and rehabilite them not taking them to court, as all those food items are termed as Non Convensional drugs.”
Earlier on, the chairman of the League of Societal Protection Against Drug Abuse, Ambassador Maryam Hassan call on the youth to shun drug abuse, and be productive to the society they represent.
