Chief Olusegun Obasanjo ,apart from President Muhmmad Buhari was the first Nigerian to rule his country twice.
Obasanjo’s first coming as Head of State was when his long term friend General Murtala Muhammad was assassinated on February 13th 1976,The Supreme military council unanimously voted General Obasanjo as New Head Of State to step into the shoes of General Murtala Muhammad.

When they overthrow General Gowon on 29July 1975, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was popularly known as Nigerian Army Senior Engineer unlike his colleague General Murtala who came from the Signals.
During his early sojourn in Nigerian Army Chief Olusegun Obasanjo oversaw the construction of many bridges across the federation,the construction of roads among other Engineering works.
By the time he was commissioned in 1958, Obasanjo’s first assignment before proceeding to his next pot of call Kaduna was Kano when Army was drafted to Supervise Nigeria’s General Elections of 1959 ,which ushers Nigeria to independence.
Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is also one of Nigerian writers,He wrote many books ,one of his captivating books was the one that fetched him into conflict with the Administration if his protege , Good Luck Jonathan.
Obasanjo’s Book ,My Watch ,a three Voluminous Book was a must read as it has depicted who Obasanjo is.
But one very interesting thing about Obasanjo’s memoirs was the narration he made of attending Islamiyya Schools when he was a boy,he also admitted that his elder sister was also a Muslimah.
But what chase Obasanjo away from Islamic Schools as he admitted was incessant flogging.
