Police Arrests Suspect in Possession of Fake Dollars, Bandits,Rustlers in Katsina

The Nigeria Police Force, Katsina State Command have made arrests of Various degree of Suspected criminal gangs operating within and neighbouring shores of the state.

The Katsina State Police Command Public Relations Officer SP Gambo Isa stated this in a statement made available to Newsmen.

Gambo Isa Said about 13:00hrs, based on credible intelligence, the Command succeeded in arresting one Idi Sabi’u Dila, ‘ aged 30yrs of Mununu village, Faskari LGA of Katsina state, but now residing at Munhaye Forest, Tsafe LGA of Zamfara state, a notorious member of bandits that attacked Diskuru village, Dandume LGA of Katsina state last Sunday 1st November, 2020.

According to the PPRO Nemesis caught up with the bandit when he was arrested at Sheme on his way into Faskari. In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to belong to the Camp of a notorious bandit of one Melaya Alh. Gandu of Munhaye Forest, Tsafe LGA of Zamfara state.

Furthermore, the suspect confessed to have participated in the attacks on Kadisau village, Faskari LGA of Katsina state of 09/07/2020 in which many villagers were killed and other similar attacks in Katsina and Zamfara states.

He said DPO Batsari led Operation Puff Adder and Sharan Daji into Rugu forest and succeeded in arresting a notorious bandit, one Sani Sulen Bayi alias “SHAHO”, aged 26yrs of Manawa village, Batsari LGA of Katsina state.

In the course of investigation, the suspect confessed to belong to the camps of notorious leaders of bandits one Audu Maisaje and Lawo Mai Shoda all of Bakin Daji, Sabon Garin Dunburawa, on the fringes of Rugu forest.

The Police Public Relations Officer added that the suspect confessed to have participated in many attacks and cattle rustling at Ruma, Gwamro and Katoge villages of Batsari among others. Investigation is ongoing.

The Command succeeded in smashing a notorious syndicate of armed robbers terrorizing Katsina metropolis and its environs.

The hoodlums armed with knives and Toy gun, scaled through the fence of the residence of one Alhaji Aminu Kabir, , of Kofar Yandaka Quarters, Katsina, attacked him and demanded for money while in the process the victim raised an alarm and shouted for help.

The robbers took to their heels and fled after robbing him of (1) Techno S5 handset valued N45,000:00K, (2) Techno Spark 2 valued N35,000:00K and Techno Key Pad valued N8,500:00K.

SP Gambo Isa noted that the Police and vigilante group arrived at the scene and gave the hoodlums a hot and succeeded in arresting one Badamasi Ismail, aged 20yrs of Abattoir Quarters, Katsina. In the course of investigation, two knives, a toy gun, torchlight and one Techno Key Pad were recovered from the suspect. The victim sustained injury on his left leg and was taken to General Hospital Katsina. He was treated and discharged. Investigation is ongoing.

The PPRO further pointed out that At about 04:00hrs, Patrol team attached to Anti-Kauraye, Katsina, succeeded in arresting one Abubakar Aliyu, m, aged 20yrs of Rahamawa Quarters, Katsina, in possession of sixty three (63) pieces of one hundred American Dollars denomination suspected to be counterfeit

. In the course of investigation, suspect mentioned one Aliyu,, of Rijiyar Lemu Quarters, Kano state (now at large) as the source of the said counterfeit currency. Investigation is ongoing.

On 24/10/2020 at about 2145hrs, the Command succeeded in arresting one Mohammed Zaharadeen , aged 30yrs of Sabuwar Unguwa Quarters, Katsina, a member of notorious syndicate of armed robbers that specializes in snatching of motorcycles.

Nemesis caught up with the hoodlum when he chattered an Okada motorcycle rider from Kofar Guga round about to Dutsin Safe Bachelors’ Quarters, Katsina. And on reaching an isolated area at the Quarters the passenger Mohammed Zaharadeen asked the rider to stop and immediately two young men came out from nowhere on a black robber – robber Jincheng, attacked the Okada rider and robbed him of his motorcycle Boxer, red in colour, unregistered, valued N175,000:00K. While the passenger suspect who tried to run away on the Jincheng Robber – Robber motorcycle was immediately apprehended.

In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to have committed the crime along with one Haruna, m, alias OFFICER and one Muntari, m, alias TUDU.

Furthermore, one Abubakar Haruna, and Abubakar Abdullahi both of Natsinta Army Barracks, Katsina identified the arrested suspect, Muhammed Zaharaddin, to be among the syndicate that attacked them and snatched their motorcycles in Katsina. Investigation is ongoing.

On 22/10/2020 at 10:30hrs, Area Commander, Dutsinma led Operation Puff Adder and vigilante group to Banye forest, Kurfi LGA of Katsina state and accosted one Abubakar Usman, M, aged 25yrs, of Bajinawa village, Dutsinma LGA of Katsina conveying sixty two (62) sheep belonging to one Dogo Salmanu, a notorious gang leader of bandits terrorizing Kurfi, Dutsinma, Safana and Kankia. Investigation is ongoing.

Ob 1/11/2020 to 4/11/2020, based on credible intelligence, the Command succeeded in carrying out raids on suspected criminal hideouts, black spots and flash points in Katsina metropolitan area and its environs and arrested of Twenty (20) suspected drug peddlers, Indian hemp dealers and social miscreants otherwise known as “KAURAYE”. One Saifullahi Charanchi and one other were arrested with two hundred and fifty thousand (250,000:00K) Diazepam tablets while one Babanle alias Dangashi of Marina Quarters, Katsina was arrested with four hundred thousand tablets of Exol-5.
