Trailer loaded with Detergents Intercepted In Kano

Kano Road and Traffic Agency, KAROTA has intercepted and impounded a trailer ladened with a brand of detergent mixed with those that are not certified by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

The operation which took place at Bompai road, Kano, was a joint operation between KAROTA and Kano State Consumer Protection Council after intelligence gathered by intelligence unit of the state traffic agency.

The operation which took place around 10:PM yesterday led to the arrest of the driver and his boys after several attempts to evade arrest.

The Arrested suspects have since been handed over to the State Consumer Protection Council for further investigations and necessary actions to be taken.

The Managing Director of KAROTA Agency, Baffa Babba Dan’agundi calls on the general public to be mindful of information label on consumable items while buying such as the expiry date, manufactured date and the NAFDAC registration number, to avoid purchasing fake and expired products that could complicate their health.

In a Statement by KAROTA’s Information officer Nabulusi Abubakar Kofar Naisa said the called on the people in the state not to hesitate to report to his agency and other relevant sister agencies, activities and importation of such goods in order to save guard the state from health hazards associated with consuming fake, expired and uncertified products.
