Army rescues 108 kidnap victims, neutralise 38 bandits

Troops of Operation Sahel Sanity has rescued 108 kidnapped victims, neutralised 38 bandits, recovered fire arms and rustled animals and also foiled attacks in the North-West of the nation.

According to Acting Director, Defense Media Operations, Brig. Gen. Bernard Onyeuko represented by Col. Aminu Iliyasu, Coordinator Army Media Operations during a Press Briefing at Army Super Camp 4, Faskari, between September 4—October 25, 2020 troops of Operation Sahel Sanity have arrested 94 suspected Bandits, logistics suppliers and collaborators.

He noted that, during the period under review, the troops recovered 30 Dane Guns, 941 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and 5 live cartridges, saying during the encounters a total of 131 cows, 154 sheep/Rams, one Camel were recovered.

Brig. Gen. Onyeuko explained that, in the search and rescue missions during the period, a total of 10 bandits camps plus their logistics bases were destroyed by the troops.

He added that, the troops have continued to dominate all the hitherto volatile areas with confidence building patrols, ambushes and clearance operations to deny the Bandits and other criminal elements freedom of action, as the troops foiled 47 bandits attacks and 31 kidnap incidents in the region.

Radio Nigeria Reports that the operations were conducted in Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna, Kebbi and Zamfara States which led to confidence boosting of the locals as well as commuters in carrying out their daily activities without hindrance.
