Minister of Defense, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi says that the Federal government would go the extra mile to sustain the unity and integrity of Nigeria.
The defense Minister gave the declaration on Saturday while addressing stakeholders and leaders of ethic groups and religious groups on the prevailing protest in Kano.
He insisted that the government would not allow the wave of unrest being orchestrated by sponsors of EndSARS protest across the country to degenerate the country into anarchy.

The Minister also expressed the presidency’s regret over the unfortunate protest across the country, said president Muhammad Buhari has directed all ministers and members of Federal executive council to prevail on their constituencies the need to restore peace.
General Magashi who reminded Nigeria is contending with enough economic and security challenges vowed that the government would do everything possible to mitigate further destruction of life and property in the country.
While emphasizing on the critical need to maintain peace and tranquility, Magashi urged the youths to seek their demands through lawful and peaceful manner and desist from destructive voyage capable of crippling the relative socio-economic and political development in the country.
He explained that President Muhammadu Buhari has urgently responded to the yearnings of EndSARS agitation on the disbandment of SARS, added that the government is sensitive and responsive to the plight of Nigerians.
The Minister urged leadership of various ethnic groups and critical stakeholders in Kano to prevail on angry youths to be patient with the Federal government and seek democratic means and approach while Agitating for their rights.
Also speaking, the Leader of Ibo community and Eze Ndigbo in Kano, Chief Boniface Ibekwe apologized for the protest allegedly embarked by youths in Sabongari community that eventually turned violence.
Chief Ibekwe who said that the protesting youths have no blessing of Igbo leaders and community in Kano however pledged to ensure peace reign in the community.
On his part the Chief Imam Of Kano Professor Emeritus Sani Zahraddin said Islam abhors violence and enjoined followers to be of great help to one another for tranquility to endure in the society.
Prof Sani Zahraddin added that Muslims will continue to uphold tenents of peace and harmony among followers of other religions.
On his part, the chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kano Chapter, Reverend Samuel Adeyemi Adeyemo explained that no Christian would embark on destruction of property and truncate the peaceful atmosphere in the state.
He said CAN is committed to peace and will continue to support government efforts to maintain peace and development in Kano.
