The attention of the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Kano state governor on sports has been drawn to an article written by one Dani Yusuf (arguably a pen name) titled “CAF A License: Kano Pillars at cross road” which was said to be published by Triumph Newspaper on October 16, 2020. Though nowhere to be found. (On Triumph published paper or online platforms).

The writer got his basic facts right about CAF “A” License and scarcity of the people with this first class continental certificate in Nigeria, coming down to the need for teams like Kano Pillars to have a coach with this license, but surprisingly ended up jeopardizing his write-up by discrediting the efforts of ad-hoc committee sets up by Kano state ministry of Youths and Sports to come up with recommendations for a coach with CAF “A” licensing certificate as required by CAF for teams participating in this season continental tournaments.

He also condemned the report of this committee by saying “The committee was said to carelessly, ignorantly or arrogantly ignored our coaches which made them to skip a coach who is an indigene of Kano state with the category of CAF A license Kano Pillars football Club is desperately looking for”. This is just a mere saying with malicious motive and signs of disrespect to the offices the committee members are holding which will never come from well-mannered person considering diction used to address this highly respected people whom not only Kano state but Northern Nigeria is proud of.

This Three-man committee was set up by Kano state Commissioner For Youths and Sports Comrade Kabiru Ado Lakwaya saddled with the responsibility to recommend a new coach for Kano Pillars, which Kano state Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Dr. Sharif Rabiu Inuwa Ahlan as chairman and Chairman of the club, Alhaji Surajo Shuaibu Yahaya, Senior Special Assistant to the Kano state Governor on sports, Alhaji Ibrahim Mu’azzam Madaki as members.

Needless to say, this three people are experienced per- excellent considering their years of experience and selfless contributions they have been rendering towards sports development in Kano and northern Nigeria at large. Notwithstanding their current offices which put them in a best position to handle this issue, reposing confidence on them which the government and the people of Kano state would never regret, believing that this people of high caliber will never come up with something against the development of the team and Kano state precisely.

What is known to general public is that the committee received a curriculum vitae of over five coaches from various parts of the country and make a recommendations that the Government would follow to employed the best one among them base on the CAF rule which stated that apart from having CAF A license, the coach most have minimum of Three years working experience and most be an active for years.

While receiving the committee’s report the state Commissioner for Youths and Sports Comrade Kabiru Ado Lakwaya applauded the efforts of the committee by coming up with ideas that would help in moving Kano Pillars forward as he commended them for keeping time and the job well done.

Despite this commendation from the commissioner, yet someone this out there calling for the commissioner to disregard the work of this Three Football powerhouse in Kano state just to amplify the personal and selfish interest of the so-called patriotic indigenes of Kano.

As we await for the announcement of new coach for Kano Pillars, All what is needed is capacitated coach who is capable of leading the team to success, be it indigene or non-indigene of Kano state. Excelling or clinching the trophy matters not where the coach come from.
