Kano State Government To Clamp Down On Quack  Health Practitioners.

Kano state Primary Health Management Board has warned that quack nutritionists and dieticians operating in the state would be subjected to face the wrath of the law.

The deputy director, family health in the ministry, Muritala Mohammed Inuwa said the ministry is perplexed with the level of influence and quackery been exerted by some alleged uncertified nutrition and dietic health practitioners in the state.

Muritala in a chat with journalists at the monthly meeting organized by the Association of Nigerian Dieticians(AND) held last Sunday at the School of Hygiene, SOH Kano with the theme “Diet in Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS What To Recommend.” said impostors have invaded the practice of dietetics and nutrition in Kano.

He said “ we are working out modalities to sanitize, what is happening now in Kano, some quacks are capitalizing on the high number of cases of ulcer, which is bowel related to extort monies from citizens.

“We are already fashioning out how to handle the matter and I want to assure you that there will be sanity and penalties against these sets of uncertified people, who go about recommending food therapy to patients without them having the professional knowledge and requisite certification,” Muritala stated.

The presenter of the paper, “Diet in Irritable Bowel Syndrome,(IBS) What To Recommend” Auwal Musa Umar said Irritable Bowel Syndrome,(IBS)  is a common disorder.

According to him, in addressing the ailment, he proffered  “adhering to regular meal patterns, reducing intake of insoluble fiber, alcohol, and caffeine.”
