The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), has reiterated call for the scrapping of Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) to protect the integrity of Nigeria Police.

The Osun state chapter of YAN at a press conference in Osogbo, Thursday, said the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, must protect the integrity of Nigeria police by finding lasting solutions to the harassment of citizens by the operatives of SARS.

Ambassador Timilehin Popoola, who spoke on behalf of the youths, stated that the scrap became necessary because the squad is causing more harm to the public than good.

The group insisted that operatives of SARS were identified in the JTF Hilux car that chased three youths to death in Osogbo, on Tuesday.

They called for immediately disclosure of identity of the operatives involved, noting that they have violated the rights to life and personal liberty of those youths.

“We condemn the killing of Nigeria youths and call on Nigeria Inspector General of Police, Abubakar Adamu, to scrap SARS section of the force because it’s doing more harm to the public than good.”
