ASUU Berates FG on IPPIS and Emoluments

The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU Kano zone has accused the federal government of Nigeria of showing a nonchalant attitude on the COVID 19 protocols as preparation for the opening of tertiary institutions is on gear.

The zonal coordinator of the union(ASUU) comprising ABU, BUK, KUST,FUD, YUMSUK  Kaduna state University and Sule Lamido University Dr. Abdulkadir Muhammad said the union is worried that no adequate preparation is made to reopen the universities.

He said Nigerian Universities are poorly equipped to cope with COVID 19 citing deficits in infrastructure while noting erratic Internet service also will make virtual learning difficult.

The union further said it has developed the University Transparency and Accountability Software UTAS that it expects will replace the IPPIS  that was imposed on universities.

The zonal union of ASUU with all representatives also decried the economic hardship faced and insecurity which it insisted is the consequences of misgovernment and inconsistencies.

It also called for the release of the emoluments for staff being withheld from July.

On the takeover of the hospitality institute by the Kano state government the union called for due process while expressing dismay over the non-involvement of the council of Kano University of Science and Technology. Wudil
