<p>Since the Privatization of the Power Holding company of Nigeria9(PHCN)by the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_government_of_Nigeria">Federal government,</a> Staff of the old Nigerian electricity company has been enmeshed into hardship and some of them are now mentally retarded.</p>
<p>An old Staff of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) and a member of association of Ex PHCN Staff Kano Zone Comrade Sani – El-Mansur Stated this during an Exclusive Interview with the Nigerian Tracker.</p>

<p>He said this is connected to the work they have done as staff of Power Holding Company of Nigeria before its hand over in 2013 to the new owners.</p>

<p>Another benefit the federal government is yet to remit to them is the equity share that they are entitled to.</p>

<p>According to Comrade El-Mansur despite having a meeting with the senate committee regarding their plight their benefits have now become a storytelling technique.</p>

<p>He said it&#8217;s estimated that the money they are supposed to be paid by the Federal government amounts to forty billion Naira or Sixty billion Naira.</p>
<p>Comrade Sani El-Mansur added that the Bureau of Public Enterprises has screened them four times with the promise that old PHCN staff that have successfully pass the screening will get paid, but the promise has now become a mirage.</p>
<p>According to him, the Nigerian privatizing authority conducted the screening exercise for the old PHCN staff in the year 2014, 2016,2017, and lately 2018 but the payment of their retirement benefits has now become a child’s play.</p>
<p>Another scenario narrated by Malam Sani El-Mansur the old PHCN staff, was that there was a man who was also retired at age 38 but his benefits were deposited somewhere.</p>
<p>The disgusting issue was that the BPE said it will not pay the 38-year-old man retired at the age of 38 his benefits of not more than 600 thousand till he attained the age of 50.</p>
<p>Comrade Sani El-Mansur who is an old Staff of PHCN Kano Zone said the present situation PHCN old staff found themselves due to the nonpayment of their benefits include marriage breakages, some have gone mad while others are now mentally retarded.</p>
<p>Some families also have Children that opt out of school due to the present predicament.</p>
