Journalists urge to maintain professionalism in their reportage

A two week long Open Contract Reporting and investigate journalism training for journalists in the Northwest and Southeast has emphasized the need for journalists to continue to remain committed to professional ethics while doing their businesses.

The training held virtual was organized by International Center for Investigative Reporting and funded by the MacArthur foundation.

Speaking to participants, the senior  programme officer, ICiR, Miss Olufemi Rosemary noted that the objective of project is to enhance the capacity of the Media to understand public procurement processes and aggressively reports budgetary and procurement related to corruption.

She said the sponsors of the project, and the center trained over 100 Journalists from across Nigeria to investigate and report corruption in the budgetary and public procurement processes.

Also the  Executive Director of International centre for investigative Reporting, Dayo Aiyetan  advice journalists to always maintain professionalism in their reportage.

Mr Dayo said this in his paper presentation on Media, Ethics and Professionalism during the training.

The participants unanimously pledged to make good use of the knowledge acquired by contributing towards finding lasting solution to the challenges affecting procurement processes and corruption.
