A movement for the protection of human rights has rescued a 55-year-old man Murtala Muhammad who was confined for 30 years at Kofar Fada in Rogo Local Government Area of Kano state.
The chairman of the Network Haruna Ayagi who told Newsmen about the incidence said Murtala was confined for 30 years because of Psychiatric problem
He said today in the morning we were informed about the incidence of a man Muhammad Murtala who was detained by parents since he was 25 years
He said the man’s parents chained him on the legs because of a psychiatric problem and we immediately informed the Divisional police officers in the area who rushed to rescue the man.
The 55-year-old Murtala expressed gratitude over his rescue noting that he is not getting a nutritious diet and inability to go out.

Comrade Haruna Ayagi has also called some parents who used to confine or detain their sons and daughters over psychiatric problem noting that Human rights network will not condone the attitude
When contacted by the Nigerian Tracker on the incidence Kano Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abdullahi Haruna does not pick the call.

There has been rising cases of chaining and detaining individuals in some parts of Northern Nigeria and on the tips off received by Policemen they rushed to immediately rescue the Victims
In Kano, a 30-year-old man who was a former football coach was rescued after been chained for 7 years by his parents around Mariri area in Kano Metropolis
Another incidence also happened in Kebbi state where the stepmother of a 10-year-old in connivance with the boy’s father tied him at a spot where Animals are being reared.
Activists have condemned the act being perpetrated by parents in the disguise of instilling morality on their wards
