As part of it’s efforts to decongest Tsangayus and Qur’anic Schools in the state, Kano state Government has commenced the repatriation of 489 Almajiris’ to Katsina state.
In a statement signed by the Ministry of Education spoke person Aliyu Yusuf and obtained by the Nigerian Tracker ,the chairman of the repatriation committee, Hon. Muhammad Sanusi Sa’id Kiru said that the excercise was initiated with good intention by the state government.
Against the misconception of some people in the society, that the government is planning to stop Qur’anic Schools in the state, the chairman debunked such allegations saying it was an effort to bring sanity in to the system.
The chairman who is also the commissioner of Education, said that his committee has a clear mandate of identifying the non indigenous Almajiris studying in Kano as well as returning them back to their states of origin.
He disclosed that the committee has taken adequate security measures to ensure the safety of the Almajiris while transporting them to their respective states, stressing that the exercise will be a continuous one.
The states that the Almajiris will be repatriated to are Katsina, Kaduna, Jigawa, Yobe, Bauchi, Zamfara, Gombe, Nassarawa and Niger Republic respectively.
He then extended his special appreciation to the Permanent Secretary of the ministry and all the members of the committee for the job welldone.
