Lockdown: CITAD charges Kano Government to provide palliatives to mitigate plight of residents

Kano state government has been urged to give palliatives to teeming poor masses of Kano before coming up with the idea of locking down the state as part of measures to combat corona virus pandemic.

In a statement released by Ali Sabo of the Campaigns and communications office of the organization, said the state government needs to support the vulnerable and poor in Ka      no ,so that the lock down will not affect their daily living condition.

“This is a clear fact that unless the government comes up with a clear directive and concrete measures to cushion the hardship, most vulnerable people in the society will find themselves in serious problem which may render the lockdown ineffective. “ Said Ali Sabo

According to Ali Sabo the centre for information and communications technology reiterate its  stand that the Kano State Government as a matter of public interest and to avoid possible break down of law and order which will defeat the objective of the lockdown  come up with a clear and elaborate plan on how to support the vulnerable people in the society which must be an accountable and all-inclusive one .

He pointed out that the State Government should inform the public how the donations given by different individuals and organizations have been used .
CITAD also called on well to do individuals in the society to support vulnerable groups in their areas at this critical time ,and further called on the state government to co-opt Civil Society Organizations and other individuals in all the committees for transparency and accountability the statement read.
