NUEE, SSAEAC Executives Visit KEDCO Management

The national leadership of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) and Senior Staff Association of Electricity & Allied Companies (SSAEAC) paid a courtesy visit to the Management of Kano Electricity Distribution Plc. (KEDCO) at the Corporate Headquarters, in Kano.

The two Unions, led by their National Presidents, Comrade Adedeye Adebiyi (President NUEE) and Comrade Engr. Chika Ben (President General SSAEAC) used the occasion to engage the KEDCO Management in a National Advisory Council Meeting, to discuss the challenges plaguing the Company and collaborate towards common goals, especially in areas such as improving staff welfare, protecting the rights of workers and performance improvement for overall business growth and sustainability.

The delegations were warmly received by the Managing Director and CEO, Mal. Abubakar Yusuf, in company of his Executive Management Team, where mutually beneficial issues were deliberated in a quest to move KEDCO and the power sector forward with a special focus on staff welfare.

The MD/CEO apprised the two unions of the ongoing business turnaround initiatives and achievements recorded since the takeover by new core investors. He adjured them to continue propagating progressive policies for the sector’s prosperity and support the company in the fight against the menaces of vandalism and energy theft, which impede organizational performance.

Yusuf, who reiterated his commitment to improving staff welfare said “We remain determined to continue prioritizing our staff’s working conditions and welfare, an essential recipe to attaining the Company’s overall goals.”

The Unions applauded KEDCO’s giant strides despite glaring challenges and urged the Company to see Unions as partners in progress while encouraging them to engender freedom of association and that they will do everything possible to support the progress and success of the KEDCO and power sector’s growth project.

In a statement by Sani Bala Sani The Head corporate communications the Unions also used the opportunity to meet and engage staff as part of efforts to deepen harmonious industrial relations and stimulate discipline, while encouraging performance amongst staff members.
